Hunter Valley Activities For Kids

It’s been long established as a destination for adults rich in wine traditions and exotic gourmet foods. But is it a place specifically for the grown ups to indulge their taste buds?  Are there activities for kids? Yes, there’s quite a lot to do in The Hunter Valley that kids, big & small, can really enjoy so let’s go through a few.

Activities For Kids

Horse Riding

Activities For KidsThere are horse riding wine tours, however there are also scenic horse riding trail rides for all experience levels. Hunter Valley Horse Riding (www.huntervalleyhorseriding.com.au) offer a variety of packages from a 10 minute pony ride to half day and sunset rides. They also have tractor rides to feed the animals, night time wildlife tours and peddle go-carts!

Hunter Valley Horses (www.huntervalleyhorses.com.au) offer a horse and carriage tour where you can take a ride through the backroads of the vineyards in a horse drawn carriage.

Hunter Valley Gardens

This is quite a spectacular attraction with 10 themed gardens spread over 14 hectares that’s looked after by 40 landscape gardeners. It has 8 kms of walking paths to explore and so it is simply a visual spectacular!

Because of the ever changing seasons it has various exhibits throughout the year. These include snow in the winter and a Christmas light display at Christmas time, these themed gardens are constantly changing so are popular for people of all ages.

Hunter Valley Zoo

Activities For KidsThe Hunter Valley Zoo has a variety of native and exotic animals from koalas to lions and monkeys. Easily accessible for prams so it’s a great options for children of all ages. There is a kiosk on site so there are plenty of options for lunch. It’s easy to incorporated into any day out as it’s right in the heart of Pokolbin.

You also have the option of Australia Walkabout Park which is half way to the Hunter Valley from Sydney. A wonderful way to break up the journey as this park set in natural bushland, is beautifully set up, and has amazing staff. We love this place but don’t take our word for it, check it out!

Putt Putt & Acqua Golf

Always fun for kids old enough to hold a club, located at the Hunter Valley Gardens these two activities can be done one after the other or on separate days. You need more luck than skill so it’s suitable for everyone.

Hunter Valley Airport Museum

Activities For KidsOur 2 year old loved this! A great selection of vintage and modern planes that you can walk around and sit in. Getting up close to these incredible machines is a rare treat so no doubt parents will also enjoy themselves. Very friendly staff there too.

So there you go, a few ideas for you to keep the kids amused. And help bribe them into allowing you to drag them wine tasting! If you would like to know more, get in touch!
