Welcome To Our Blog

After more than 10 years of taking groups on Hunter Valley wine tours, I thought it might be nice to share a more personal perspective on my experiences. I have learnt a lot and met 1000’s of people from all over the world. It’s really been an amazing decade and I hope it continues for another. I write about not only our Hunter Valley Wine Tours but also various other destinations and experiences. Please feel free to let me know what you think!

Hello 2021! A Fresh Start?

Well we are off to a fresh start and there is plenty of optimism surrounding this new year. Now I’m a pretty optimistic guy but also a realist and a huge turn around does seem unlikely. I think we need another 12 months to get out of this mess. Will this year be a lot better? It certainly couldn’t be any worse than last year! Oh how I miss our trips to the Hunter Valley! It seems we’re now close to an internationally available vaccine, and at least in Australia, our Covid 19 numbers and relatively low.

Goodbye 2020 – it’s been emotional

What a year for us all! In a way it’s a little odd that it is coming to an end. It’s been such a heavy year for many, and to think it will soon be over there can be a mixture of relief and nostalgia. A year certainly all of us will never forget. Goodbye 2020!

Christmas Mulled Wine

Well it tis the season! Oh Christmas, how we love you! There is so much about Christmas I love, with too many to list in one blog. Ok, I’ll sneak one in here… the smell of a real Christmas Tree (I’m sitting a couple of metres away from one now)! But if there is one wine related Christmas tradition, at least for us, then it’s Christmas mulled wine! Everything from making it, smelling it, drinking it and sharing it!

Southern Highlands Tour

Yesterday we did our first The Southern Highlands Tour, just south of Sydney and it was wonderful! It was an itinerary that was a little experimental but it worked, with a lovely combination of spectacular views, a cultural infusion, and of course, wine country (which we always love).

There are a few places around the world where tasting fees are common (the US for one) however traditionally in The Hunter Valley as well as many historical wine regions around the world such as Europe, a tasting fees are not common. Driving From Sydney To The Hunter Valley – Tours Drive 33

The drive from Sydney to The Hunter Valley, if you take Tourist Drive 33, is a beautiful one. Not long after you get onto the M1, you soon find yourself driving on a motorway that literally cuts through the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. The motorway is bordered by huge sandstone cut walls that lead in and out of lush bushland.
